2009. november: borzongató időben az utolsó nyitvatartási napon a Múzeumba látogatók még éppen láthatták: megérkezett a 1512-es

MiG-21PF.

Ezzel a MiG-21 sor teljessé vált: minden, valaha a Magyar Néphadseregben /Honvédségben rendszeresített MiG-21 változat képviseltetve van a Múzeumban !

November 2009: On the last opening day of the Museum, in hideous weather, visitors to the museum could get a look at the just-arrived MiG-21PF 1512.

With this, the MiG-21 series was completed: every variant of the MiG-21 that ever served with the Hungarian People's Army/Hungarian Home Defence Force is now represented in the museum!

Jól esik ilyen jó állapotú gépet látni !

It's nice to see a machine in such good condition!

Ismerős formák: talán ebből a nézetből a legnehezebb megállapítani, milyen változatú MiG-21-essel van dolgunk.

Familiar shapes: from this angle, it's probably the most difficult to identify which variant of the MiG-21 we're dealing with.

Innen már egyértelműen azonosítható a PF:

From here it's unquestionably a PF: a short "bulge" on the spine...

...de még árulkodóbb a gépágyú hiánya.

A "szuperszonikus békegalamb" címmel is illetett vadászrepülőgép mindössze két légiharc rakéta függesztésére volt alkalmas.

...but the lack of cannon is a bigger giveaway. The plane that was nicknamed "the supersonic dove of peace" could carry a grand total of two air to air missiles.

Gépünk állapota kiváló, legközelebb ennek sajátos okáról is szólunk.

A fülke nyitását egyelőre  - csakúgy mint több más típus esetén - az a szomorú tény korlátozza, hogy  a Múzeum nem rendelkezik a megfelelő sűrített levegő palackkal.

The condition of our machine is exemplary; next time, we'll discuss the unique reasons for this. For the moment, the opening of the canopy is prevented - as with several other types - by the sad fact that the museum does not yet own the appropriate compressed-air canister.

Az alumínium lemezbe gravírozott, ennek megfelelően hosszú életű ismertető tábla.

Nagy Andrisnak gratuláltam ott jártamkor, hogy a gép csak néhány napja érkezett, és a tábla máris elkészült.

- Tudod hogy mióta készen van már...? - mondta.

Bizony, ez a gép évek óta csupán néhány száz méterre "dekkolt" a jól megérdemelt múzeumi helyétől.

The descriptive plaque is engraved in aluminum, so as to have an extended service life.

I congratulated Andris Nagy when I was there on the rapid appearance of the sign in front of the airplane, even though it had only been there a few days. "Do you know how long it's been ready?" he asked. Indeed, this aircraft was "hiding" for years only a few hundred meters away from its well-deserved display spot.
